Default GW for macs... cmon already.

Well, I'm on a couple days break with my sis's thing and there is no GW for macs. Why not? How simple is it just to make a client for macs? seriously.

I think Anet is too busy working on future chapters to worry about the relatively small mac market.

correct me if i'm wrong but mac just got Intel chips. Within the next quarter expect macs to be shipped with WinXP as well.

Shouldn't have a problem with running GW then.

...whatever it is you're trying to say, it's not coming out in a form that's understandable.

You expect Apple to ship their Macs with a fully functional copy of XP, a product made by a competitor? C'mon, seriously.

What will happen is that Apple will include Boot Camp (yes, Boot Camp, not a fully functional copy of XP) with OS X Leopard.

I guess i should have been more paticular in my wording. Macs will ship with hardware capable of running WinXP. Like you're saying it's entirely unlikely that macs will ship with competator's products, but the option to install and run windows products onto macs will not be completely out of the question.

Running OsX on a PC on the otherhand is just never going to happen. Though it's not like any PC users even care so that's a moot point.

A) Around as hard as it is to make a client for Windows (read, very)
B) Dont complain, you guys have Boot Camp
C) Dont complain, you have a plethora of games next to *nix users.

http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/
http://onmac.net/

It's been possible as of several weeks ago. Current line of Macs already can run XP if the user chooses to play around with it.

A: I read. But I do have other friends who have macs and were very annoyed that they couldn't play once they had tried GW at my house a few times. It may be a minority market but hey, so are gamers.

B: I'm not a Mac user, so I have no clue what you're talking about. Elaborate please, or link me to a reliable source?

c: Again, I'm not a Mac user, so that doesn't really apply to me. I was actually able to play UT2004 on my father's Fedora machine so I was pretty happy. At least it's possible to run practical emulaters on linux and unix boxes.

I'm just wondering if it's possible to even write something up that may be used as a converter between the two OS's. Actually, I'd bet that it would sell like twinkies at a fat camp.

Has anyone here ever tried running GW on a windows emulator? I'm wondering if I can take it on my dad's laptop the next time I go to Wisconsin.

BTW: Does anybody have an actual windows/osx/*nix user ratio just so we could compare the actual ammounts of users and see if it may even be worth the time/money to convert the software?

(this is starting to look like it could even go to techincal >.<)

Not a Mac user either, but Boot Camp is a relatively new, exciting software that Apple and Mac users are currently testing which allows the native installation of Windows onto a Mac. Which is much better than an emulator. From what I've heard, Guild Wars and other 3D games work wonderfully.

Friend of mine has gotten GW to work quite well on his Mac laptop that way.

Note, though, that this is only possible for Macs with Intel processors - i.e., the most recent ones. People who already had Macs are out of luck.

Some wrote somthing program that made guildwars portable, ie installing it and playing it off a flash drive. I believe someone also tried it on a mac, off the flash drive and it worked,

Not good!

Now when I go to my parent's - I'll be playing GW off my flashdrive. Even less time spent with my family.

Not good at all!!
